    If the other collectors are saying this is a 1 in 700 gun then sell the gun to them and laugh to the bank. The Mauser P38 had production problems and made only 700 pistols in 1942 out of an order of 14000 for the military. There is nothing that distinguish which of the first ones are of the 700. Some of the very early pistols have small parts that are e/135 marked. The finish is called a dusty blue.
