    Bulgarian 7.62x54r

I took my M44 up to Pollock Pines today, and shot a couple different rounds through it.

    1) Chechoslavakian surplus, which performed pretty well. Not really accurate, but pretty good.

2)Bulgarian Surplus, Holly Sh*t this stuff is powerful. My buddy was shooting the chech stuff, and then switched to bulgarian. The first shot he did, he hurt his collar bone. WAAAAY more recoil. The percussion was huge also.

I was aiming at a plastic bottle about 50 yds away through my scope, and I kept missing it, or so I thought. I went up to it and saw 6 holes through it. We had it sticking on a little stick to hold it. Anyway, I was really impressed with this stuff. Although the brass case cracked on a couple of them.

Does the Bulgarian stuff have any steel in the projectile? The only range I go to doesnt allow steel jackets/cores. Ive been looking for some cheap, non-magnetic, surplus so I can finally take my Mosin out...

While not exactly cheap, you can order non-magnetic 54r from CDNN. They have some brass, reloadable 54r for $137.99 for 420 rnds.
