    A Modern Mosin?

Polyanniy Molot sells Mosins and SKSs and most famously, the VEPR rifles. They're all sold as hunting arms.

I did not know that they sold stuff we consider to be "milsurp." Is anyone familiar with these guns---I want to know if they are re manufactured from original 91/30s or new production rifles. I'm just awfully curious, that's all. I never thought the Russians would STILL make Mosins, these having been around for 120years and all.

They do sell one variant in some caliber, 9x53R, which I had never heard of.

If they were indeed new...I still wonder if they were made on original tooling. That would be neat.

I'd bet they are built off original rifles. The costs of making new rifles would be much more than rebuilding old ones.

seems like what a Mitchell's Mauser (minus the false claims) is except for Mosins...

Is it possible to get one of these reworked rifles in the US?

Looks cool, but I'd bet they're little more than cleaned up originals. Perhaps new stocks, and reblued barrels and receivers, but seeing as how the Soviets made 17 million of the 91/30 variant alone, I can't see why anyone would crank out new ones when refurbishing old ones would be much cheaper.

That scope mount is definitely modern, no?

Now you can have one, change what you want and not upset the purists that feel one changed out of 17 million surplus "old" Mosins is sacrilege.

Makes sense. Why not produce new hardware from a proven old design.

I would be interested to see what a modern gun maker's interpretation of the Mosin using modern materials would look like.

And no, I'm not talking about putting an ATI stock with a POS UTG bipod.
