    Apparently Mosins Self Replicate

That can be the only explanation. An X Files kinda thing. Must be, because I already have one and have no compulsion to acquire additional Mosins. When I came home from work and let the wolves out, they started barking. I went to see what the commotion was about, and this '40 Tula 91/30 was growing out of my lawn. Go figure. That's the story I'm sticking to if my wife asks. PAX

very nice. earlier front site and the stock looks to not have been refinished. and is that a Finnish "SA" stamp on the left side of the receiver i see?

EDIT: there also appears to be a splice just under the rear site. dude, i think you have a very nice Finnish M1891 built on a captured Tula receiver

Yes there is SA in a box, stamped on the revievers left side, and there is a beautiful dovetail splice on the forearm. It's actually two pieces of wood. PAX

SA stands for Suomen Armeija, and means "Finnish Army" if i recall correctly. the 2 piece stock is a common theme with Finnish Mosins.

the receiver was captured during the Winter War between the Finns and Soviets and Finland built their own rifle on it. it is a Finnish M1891/30 and is more valuable than your average Russian 91/30.

Yes, it's a very nice rifle but it's a Russian barrel, so not really what one would call a "Finnish 91-30". It is more correct to call it a "Finn marked" or "Finn capture".

Regardless of the semantics, it is a nice one and I'd trade 3 Russian refurbs to have that Finn. The blade front sight and spliced stock are 2 desirable features. If it had a "41" stamped on the right side if the barrel shank, that would be an extra bonus.

Do you have any photos of the side profile? It should be a "pot belly stock" but it's hard to tell with the angle that the photo was taken. I bet it's a nice shooter.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
