    Garand Peep Sights

I don't have alot of Garand knowledge - who produced how many, what to look out for, etc. Folks who can store all that knowledge have my praise for sure. But I do have a 1943 Springfield that was reworked top to bottom to 7.62 and I enjoy the heck out of shooting it. At the last Reno gun show I picked up an Alley globe front sight and a rear sight aperture with a threaded hole that accepts Lyman & Merit peep discs. I have a Remington 40X in 308 and enjoy shooting it once in a while instead of all the high mag scoped rifles, so I figured why not try the same set up with the M1. What a great difference the peep rear and globe front make - my vision is still in the 20/15 range so good sights work well with me. I went from about a strong 2.5" @ 100 yds with the regular sights to about 1.5" per 5 rds. I wonder if any one else has given this a try and noted an improvement?

I dressed down the lower inside edge of the disc so I could set the rear sight down almost all the way.

I wasn't aware a Garand sight with threaded aperture was available - I was searching the show for a standard one I was going to drill & thread myself when I found the one I have now.

This gives the very sharp "circle in a circle in a circle" sight picture I'm used to in my Rem 40X and Win 75. I find that a much finer sight picture than the large peep and post.
