What's the rough cost to get a barrel swapped over, and is there someone in the SJ bay area who does this kind of work? I've got an old reweld M1 Garand that this would be a good fix for.

About $200 for a barrel in the white....prices all over for the park or squirt over it. To "just install" I'd think you're looking at maybe an hour shop time- so whatever they charge per hour. Someone will chime in thats proabbaly already done so; NRAHighpowershooter does barrels but does only ones NOT in the white............

Tabor's in San Bruno charged me $50 a few months ago and he had to put the new barrel on the lathe and take it down a few thousandths.

R.H. Antigue Gunsmithing is located in Santa Clara. He installed my new barrel for $75.00 His name is Dick. 408 727-2876

Dick is a nice guy but doesn't have the right tools if your barrel doesn't index properly. He charged me $60 to not install my barrel, he tried but could clamp it enough and didn't have a lathe to turn it down.
