    M1 Garand tutor needed

I have a very beautiful garand which is super to shoot. But, I don't shoot it that much because I am not that proficient in taking it apart. I also am not too up on the sights, and how they work. They are set up perfectly for 100 yards, but I want to shoot at 200 and 400 yards at Angeles with the gun,

I am looking for a M1 Garand tutor in the South Orange county area to help me learn the gun a bit more.

I love the sights on mine, they're easy to use once you get the knack too. Since you've already got a 100yd zero, remember where that lines up on the elevation nob, then memorize this:

    3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 8, 8.

That is, if you move from...

    100-200 3 clicks up
    200-300 3
    300-400 4
    400-500 4
    500-600 5
    600-700 5
    700-800 6
    800-900 8
    900-1000 8

heres a quick and dirty way to zero the gun out to 400 yards.

zero it in at 25 yards point of aim= point of impact. now move the elevation click 1 up (1MOA up adjustment).

you should be able to hit that steel from 200-400 yards no problem.

if you google m1 garand sights theres also click adjustments you can turn on elevation if you use 100 yard zero.

Forget the marks on the elevation dial.
Best thing to do is to zero at differnt ranges and count the clicks and write it down on a piece of paper and store it in the buttstock.
Someday the elvation knob will come loose, probably in the middle of match and the dial will no longer line up with distance and you would be in a pickle.
By writing it down all you have to do is look at paper ,count clicks up and you are ready to go

Field stripping a Garand is so easy it is literally child's play.

Search YouTube for "field strip Garand" and you will find several videos.

Start keeping a "dope" book when you shoot, look up the details on-line. If you keep track of each individual rifle you'll always have something to refer back to

Data Book, keep one for every rifle, tape Dope onto stock for quick reference

www.garandgear.com has many articles for the new M1 Shooter. Reductio posted some come-ups that should get you on target at longer distances.
