So my old man grabbed up a late 20's manufactured model 1894 at the Glendale show a while back, last weekend at the Ventura show he picked up a lyman tang sight for it. I was looking at installing it today and found that the tang is already drilled and tapped for the front screw. However there is a screw plug in the hole with no slot in the head to drive it. I do not think I could cut a slot in it with out damaging the tang and the thought of drilling it out is not all that scary, But I figured I would ask first. I am just curious if there is anyone who has dealt with this and has the magic trick to get that bugger out of there?

Try taking the stock off and look under the tang to see if it was screwed in from underneath. That would be the first thing I would look at before going any further...sigpic NRA Life Since 1986
