springfield 1903a3 ammo

Does the 1903A3 have the limits a garand would have in terms of shooting modern 30.06 ammo? I've read that the springfield 1903's can shoot modern 30.06 since they are bolt action, but I want to check with folks who know.

Any other advice before I move on to become a new/possible 1903A3 owner? Any warnings? I've read up some, they seem pretty straightforward and reliable but I don't want to mess up a piece of history here.

Shoot whatever 30-06 ammo you want in it. It is not like a Garand.

I've fired commerical hunting rounds in my 1903 since my CMP lake city stuff attracts a magnet. I don't remember the specifics, but it was heavy loads. Commerical 30 06 is very expensive, but I couldn't wait for fire season to be over.

Thanks. I'll definitely score some CMP ammo but for now, the hunting loads - ouch - pricey
