    C&R Marlin Model 39?

    I need help.

I understand that the Marlin Model 39 was made from 1921-1936 and those produced from 1937 on are the Model 39A.

Question 1: Were the Model 39 and Model 39A marked differently?
Question 2: What was the serial number range for the Model 39?

A friend of mine's dad has what appears to be a Marlin Model 39 in excellent condition and, because of the huge price difference between the two, we want to know if it's really a Model 39 or if it's a Model 39A.

I don't know if this will help but my 1948 vintage model 39A is marked 39-A.
I suspect a model 39-A will be marked as such no matter how early it was made.
