    Minie Balls

I have plenty of powder and caps. Anybody know of a good source of .50 and
.69 caliber Minie balls in the Los Angeles area? I hate to shop on line.

      Minie Balls

Thanks. I am familiar with Bain and Davis. Just didn't think about them. Although they're not exactly local to the San fernando Valley.

EMF, Early Modern Firearms, is located out in Santa Ana in Orange County and carries a wide selection of guns, molds, supplies, possibles, accessories, et alls. They aren't all that far away really, and is a major supplier of the BP enthusiasts needs. However I have never actually gone out there, so I am not sure if that particular location is an actual retail outlet, or if it is the national headquarters location that ships and sells only to its 9,000 plus dealerships. You would need to call them, to find that out, and if you do call them, they would be happy to direct you to one of their full featured dealerships not too far away, if that location is only a wholesale to delearships location. I appologize for my lack of knowledge on this, but I am exactly the opposite of you, I prefer to shop online because the distributors located far, far away from Los Angeles generally have much lower pricing and a much wider selection of products to choose from, and out of state internet sales are sales tax FREE !!! Also, there is a dire shortage of gun shops of any kind in the Greater Los Angeles area, due to the severe restrictions imposed on gun shops and dealerships in Los Angeles because of somewhat recent regulations and restrictions placed on them in Los Angeles. Many Los Angeles area gun shops and dealerships have shut down entirely or moved outside LA County altogether. This leaves the BP enthusiast in LA with very few actual store location options, and generally, a poor selection of products once you do get out to a local LA gun shop.

Here is the contact information for EMF

When I do wish to go out to an actual real gun shop, with an actual real skilled gunsmith, in the greater LA area, I generally go to Kings Gun Works, also known as "Kings Armory", out in Glendale. The owner is a very knowledgeable and skilled gunsmith with alot of experiance in BP guns, and he carries a wide selection of BP guns and supplies, including a supply of modern BP substitute powders, but no actual real old fashioned BP. I am not aware if Kings carries a selection of casting supplies and molds, again, this is because I generally shop for those kinds of items online, usually directly from Lee Precision Inc, (The famous Lee Loader product line) who sells directly to the public and has a very wide selection of molds, presses, sizing dies, et all, all at bargain basement prices. For that matter I also purchase my actual real belching, flaming, Ka-Blewie BP online, generally from The Maine Powder House, who carries Goex powders, and Swiss and German powders at very affordable prices. Compare Goex ffg or fffg purchased online from the powder house at $15.00 per pound, to Kings prices of $39.00 per lb for the Tripple Sec 7 powder substitutes, and you get my general reasons for online preffered shopping. At those prices, one pound of Tripple Sec 7 costs as much as 2-2/3 lbs of Goex by mail order through the Maine Powder House, and I don't even like Tripple Sec 7, I prefer to use the real thing even with the mess and fuss of it all, which, from my point of view, is all part of the fun of BP to begin with. (Ya, I was one of those kids who could find a way to get all grimy and dirty sitting in Sunday School, not being mischieveous at all !!! LOL)

        Here is Kings Contact information,

Here also is a direct link to the Lee Precision Inc, Black Powder Mini Mold product line, just in case you would like to take a gander and a look-see.

I hope this helps you with your search.

        Sincerely,
