Swedish Mauser UPDATE W/PICS!

My buddy has a swedish mauser that he's looking to off for $250. seems to be in decent condition. Dated 1941. has a threaded barrel, anyone know what is supposed to be on the end of it? is $250 a decent price?

Check to see if all the parts have matching numbers, even the sights, buttplate, barrel bands etc.

The threaded barrels on the Mausers were used for blank adapters using rounds that had wooden bullets. The adapter shred the bullet. (Opps just noticed the previous post)

so i went and looked at it again today. I looked for matching numbers but the only numbers i could find were on the butt-plate and the bolt components. all the numbers on the bolt matched, and they match the number on the butt-plate.

I just checked, my M38 is the same way. I believe on the original M96s they marked every part, but stopped for some reason on the later model.

The "1" mark on the disk means it has a good bore. No mark at all would be better, but it should still be a shooter.

There are 3 on Gunbroker right now, and the cheapest one is at $250 with the reserve not met.

That looks like it is a good rifle at a good price.

The "0" mark means that the bore miked out at 6.50mm, so it is still a nice, tight bore. Buy it for that price. The M38s are nice, handy, and built like Swiss watches. I have a Swede from 1900, and everything still snaps together with a crisp "click" The steel on these things is some of the best out there. The fit and finish is great. Buy it, or pass on your friend's contact info. A lot of people here would love to grab it for that price.

Well, I'm all setup to buy it but there's a catch. A couple years ago my buddy who currently has it bought off our other buddy who was\is strapped for cash. He paid him $250 (the price they paid at the gun show when they both bought one years ago) under the stipulation that he would resell it to him after he got in a better financial place. So now they are both broke, and the guy who has it wants it out of hias safe and needs his $250 back. So i talked to our other buddy and he still wants it but cant afford it yet. So i told him i would buy it and not sell it until he is able to buy it back and he will get it for the price he paid way back when,$250. They are both good friends so i don't mind helping them both out and having a sweet C&R to play with for a while. Pics when i take possession!
