p38 problem

I agree that it must be some kind of worn shelf on the hammer component. One of my DA C&R guns (the 1887 Swedish Nagant), has the same problem. I can manually cock the hammer for single action, and it's great, but the double action does not work like it used to. There is also a shelf on the hammer component and the part of the trigger that is supposes to catch it on the way up misses this shelf very often.

Is the sear spring install correct? The spring wire leads are from the bottom of the stake.

That's what I was thinking too. There's two or three springs in the trigger and sear mechanics that can cause this by being bent, worn out, or broken.
