Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values also confirms the 14,579 number for first year production.

Where are you getting your information from?
Reading the very first post in this thread should clear things up:

Also, the Blue Book of Gun Values shows both the old Madis info AND the polishing room records (on models that are available) in 2 columns.

Most people associate the 1894 as the "thirty thirty". The first two calibers offered were .32/40 and 38/55. Serial number 3314 was the first rifle offered in 30 W.C.F.

navydad, one of those weird things Winchester did without an explanation, ...that I know of.
The Model 72 was made from 1938 to 1959, with 161,412 made.
At roughly the same time period of manufacture, they made the Models 74 and Model 75, and they were all serial numbered.

Just throwing a dart here - VA Federal Corrections?

Also - Googling "VA FCO" comes up with Veterans Affairs...... but I dunno what they'd want with rifles.

Maybe someday, someone will stumble on them like Bert did with the Winchester Polishing Room records in the Cody Museum basement. We can only hope!
I don't know if you'll have any luck, but you might try a call to the Winchester customer service number. Stranger things have happened!

Jose, The models 290 and 190 were made from 1963 to 1974, with 2,171,263 produced, and unfortunately there is no known serial number data for them.
To complicate even further, all the Sears house brands, Sears, JC Higgins, and Ted Williams, were serial numbered by Winchester, but used serial numbers exclusive to Sears, and no one has ever found the data for the Sears serial numbers.
