    CZ52 slide problem

With four mags (2 old, 2 new) the slide on this pistol seldom locks back after the last round. If I press the handle down on an empty mag real hard on a surface and rack the slide, it locks back 75% of the time. It's not a big issue except that I end up dry firing if I lose count of my shots at the range. So I have two questions:

    1. Is there a good way to keep the slide locking back after the last round? Like put JB Weld on the bottom of the mag and file it down for a tighter fit?

    2. If I am going to end up unintentionally dry firing on occasion, does it matter which replacement firing pin I install? Harringtons has one with the spring for $30 and Numrich has a hardened replacement pin for about $25. Is one significantly better than the other?

    Thanks for your help

I bought a "hardened" pin from sportsmansguide and after dry firing 3 times it broke. I sent it back. Get the one with the spring.

You will want a machined pin, from billet and not a cast pin with final machining.

The slide stop maybe bent. You may want to replace it. The magazines can and do have out of shape followers that fail to push the slide stop up. You may want to reshape them, or at least try. This you'll have to figure out on your own and be prepared to mess one u, as you can still buy new ones.

The CZ52 will bust pins all the time if you dry fire it. You can set your watch by it.

It does have a de-cocker as you know. I have a well worn 52. I've fired 7,000 round out of it.

Because much of it was corrosive, I am on
Barrel No.2, Slide No.2(the original slide busted at the muzzle), firing pin No. 3.

Don't be afraid to buy extra parts. I have more, including a 2nd 52 that I don't shoot because its kind of a collector.

The de-cocker has failed and will touch off a round in the chamber. Don't trust it on a loaded chamber. I'll get around to fixing it, but for now, it's name is Wild Thing (not related to Major League future corpse Chuckie Sheen)

I hope this added info helps.
