    Two new Mosin Nagants!

Woo hoo, I was able to go to UPS today and pick up my two new Mosin's that I had ordered. Of course they come when I was out of town, I had to tell UPS to hold them so I could go pick them up. Purchased both of them from Southern Ohio, top one is a repo PU sniper, Izzy made in 1941. The bottom one is also a Izzy, 1939, the PEM scope on top of it is an original bring back from WW2, I will be mounting the scope to the rifle. I purchased an Accumount PE/PEM mount, now to get it drilled and tapped.

      Those are sweet!

Picking up my first one this Friday.

Just applied for CR FFL so I can find those gems on the internet.

      Got the CR bug...

Cruddymutt, those are very nice snipers, where did you find the PE? I would like to have all three of the sniper versions of the Mosin.

Anarmsxprt, I applied for my license last year, took about a month to get it, it was well worth it. Make sure when you get your license, to mail it out the the different vendors to have on file. It is a nice, but expensive thing to be able to purchase a rifle and have it shipped to your house.

And to whoever said Mosins breed, that is the truth, I started out with one from Big 5, I currently have seven of them now.

            Cruddymutt,

How come two of your guns don't have the metal edges around where the dog collar goes?

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

The PE scopes are Ukraine repros. They are both CN marked Tulas (1935 and 1939). The PU is a restored 42 Ishevsk. Repro base, Izhevsk mount and 42 dated SVT scope.

As for the escutcheons, the 42 is in a wasrtime stock, it isnt supposed to have them. The other two are post war stock with pressed in escutcheons. The middle one just has alot of shellac.

Which scope mount do you like better, the top mount or the side mount?

Definatly the side mount. It just looks cooler. My side mount means alot to me. It took me quite a while to get it completed and you just dont see very many of them. Seriously out of the 3 I shoot the top mount the least. I have no reason for it.

Just to throw a wrench into this statement, there is actually more than 3 sniper versions. There is the top mount PE, top mount PEM, side mount PEM, and the PU. If you really want to get technical, look up the GECO mounts. early-mid 1920s side mounts with Zeiss scopes. I beleive there was 2 versions of that as well.

Hmm, when I get the top mount I will see how I like it. The scope means a lot to me. It was brought back by a WW2 Vet, served with Patton in Africa, Italy then Germany. When he died we found out he was one of eight to survive Italy with his company. No one in the family knew he won the bronze star for his service in Italy till after he passed away.

Yea, I already have seven Mosins, I really would just like to get the side mount PEM, that way I can get some other rifles. Still need my Garand and a K98. And so many others!

Very nice, I just ordered my second Mosin from AIM. I know now what everyone said earlier that Mosins are like Lay's potato chips, you can never have just one.
