Hey Guys, i wanted to know what you guys could tell me about this rifle,
its a relatives, it was supposedly used as a drill rifle for parades etc.
Any info would help please, history, value etc. Thanks guys. Here are some crappy pics, hopefully they help. It appears that the firing pin is still there and the bore is clear! He was thinking of selling it but has no idea whats the value?

Looks to me like it's a 1903a1; I can't tell you much else.

Well I can positively state that I am not a 1903 expert , but what little I do know that serial number is around the time the heat treating was changed so is could be a shooter. That info comes from the CMP site

Now if you really want to find a group that know that rifle try posting that same info here.

Saw one go for $350 over on the CMP Forums a few months ago.
A lot of people don't care for the Ceremonial Rifles, but I like them.

Serial number 875720 dates from 1918. It would be interesting to know if it has the original barrel or if it was replaced in the early to mid 40's like so many were. The date of the barrel should be stamped on top just behind the front site. I can't tell for sure from the photos, but if the bolt is straight and not swept back slightly, it may be a good idea to update the bolt as there was a major change right around 1918 and they switched to a swept handle to show an easy way to know if the bolt was updated.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
