    I agree with mosinnagantm9130,

    Many nice looking Mosins around.

I'll ask the question.....Why any C&R rifle? Modern rifles are much more pretty.

Beautiful! You have to love Finns. Man I would love for just ONE of my M39's to have striping like that! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with rare arsenal markings, LOL!

Put a decent scope on them, shoot 174 SMK's out to 800 yards with a good spotter, and youll find out.

                  Not necessarily.

                  Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Off the rack, they look like hell and half of them are either too stiff to be usable, or too loose to be worth a darn. Have to agree with the "if it weren't cheap" comments. I think they gained a lot of popularity here in California while anything semi automatic was either legislated or priced out of reach of most shooters.

They have been popular everywhere for years.
They are cheap only in price.
My mosin is more reliable than my AK or AR in design alone.

They're a C&R rifle, not a modern hunting or target rifle. What did you expect? They are not for sniping or target shooting, they are a collectable battle rifle from back in the 1940's (or earlier).

Why would anyone put the same conditions of shooting on a 60 year old rifle as a moden rifle. Sort of like saying a 1930's wind up phonograph is not as good sounding as a CD player.

Thats true, but I know of a certain Finn that were he still alive, could take one of those MN's and out-shoot just about anyone on this board.
I'm sorry but if the highest scoring sniper of all time used an iron sighted Finnish MN then its good enough for anyone's civilian use.

Since I have bought my first Mosin, I have learned a great deal about Russian history.
What got me first interested was the movie "Enemy at the Gates". I had seen the movie waaaaaay before I bought a Mosin. After buying the Mosin, I began to appreciate the significance of the weapon.
On the same note, I feel the same way about the Garande. I have always loved learning about WWII U.S. military history and have had wonderful conversation with those that served.
On my soon to own list, the Garande and Carbine.

                            I own a 1929 and 1945 Mosin.
When I shoot them, I can't help to think that these rifles may have served during the war and wonder what it was like looking down the sights in 1942.

If their not your thing, buy a high tech Bull Pup.
                            Tricked out AR.
Plain old 22lr bolt action if you like.

Can't wait for my Romanian SKS to arrive. I'll bet this one will have some history!

I've owned four and have only one left. I can't get any of them to shoot. I know what the problem is and it's me not being able to cope with the 37 stage trigger. But, I've given up on them and moved to other C&Rs instead. I'm much happier shooting my K31s than I ever was shooting a Mosin.

Buy one, then chop the **** out of it.

I just took a hacksaw to my 91/30 and took it down to 17", tossed on a scout scope and an ATI stock. My barrel was rusted pretty bad down to the 17.5" mark so I just said to hell with it and chopped it off. 30.00 for a re-crown job and it was good to go.
