Calling all CR ammo gurus, I need you help on ID-ing or a link to 762 tok ammo and 763/30 mauser ammo. I have a mixed bag of like 100 rounds of what was labeled '763 Tokarev'.
There are basically 5 types of headstamps and I am not recognizing this stuff.
Below is a discription of each headstamp--my camera cant do the macro closeups good enough(need new camera).
Also all the rounds have like 'peening' marks -whole neck is ringed with small peen circles on all the rounds-no crimps. Ammo is basic brass w/copper FMJ w/red varnish around primer pocket.
#1- '45' , '710', 'VII' '*'(star)
#2- '38', '45' , '*', '*'
#3- looks like a 'T' , '45'
#4- '3' ,'*', '45', 'III'
#5 this one is weird ,going clockwise- '304' / '*'/ '11-45' / '*' /
The '/' is a line dividing the HS into 4 sections and 'isolating' the marks.
Basically I am hoping this is WW2 soviet Tokarev ammo ,Bulgarian or Chinese ammo. These CAN be shot in a Broomhandle mauser and are the closest to 'fact spec'. Original Russian/Soviet Tok and 30 Mauser were the same and loaded the same.China was Mausers largest customer in the end and so this ammo is generally fine also.
Other than this my only choices are Fiocchi, old original 30 Mauser and maybe some Remington...
Thank you all for any help,links,etc....
