    S/147 1936 K98

What can you guys tell me about this riffle, it's the other sporter I bought and it doesn't say 98 anywhere on it, these are the only markings on the receiver.

you can't really see it well in this pic but the bottom of this area has a really light 1936 stamped into it

This serial nuber is on the bottom of the reciever and the floor plate, the last two numbers of it are on the bolt release as well

I'm not reall sure what these marks are but they're all I could find

Thanks for what ever info you guys can come up with

Sporterized K98k. Yours was made shortly before Sauer & Sohn rifles started being marked "Mod. 98" on the receiver siderail.

      J. P. Sauer und Sohn GmbH survived World War II and later partnered with the Swiss firm Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG) to produce the SIG-Sauer line of handguns.

Wow you guys really are a wealth of knowledge. The person I bought this gun from said it is chambered in 7mm Rem mag but that is not stamped anywhere on the rifle is there any way to check that or is there something I'm not seeing there.

A gunsmith can make a casting of your chamber, or you can do it yourself.

Buehler was a company based out of Orinda CA and made rings and bases. One of my deer rifles is equipped with a set.

Looks kinda rough, are you going to do some restoration work on it.
