Extra caliber?? Quandary

Soooo, here's the situation. I have a smallish collection of Lee Enfields, primarily .303 British but also including some of the 7.62 NATO rifles aswell, which is the main focus of my collection.
I also have a lovely refurbished Winchester 1917 in 30-06 as a sister to my Winchester P14, but here's my quandary. By buying that, I've brought in another caliber which I was trying to avoid, so at this point I have a choice. EITHER add a Garand and a Springfield 03 A3 and add 30-06 to my milsurp collection (at this point I am short of cash and actually had to sell a Garand recently) - OR....sell the 1917 which would fund a couple of Moisins and some ammo and add 7.62x54 to my collection. It seems to me that long term I would be able to get a great shooting M44 , M91/30 and M91/30 Sniper replica with M1917 cash plus a much lower additional amount, than trying to get another nice Garand and 03/A3. Pretty much I'm looking for validaton here for my plan. Any naysayers?

Isn't it a federal law that every mil surp collection has to include at least one Garand?

I'd hate to have to get rid of a nice 1917, but if ammo cost is a concern I'd have to choose 7.62x54r.

I've been in the opposite situation; I have many Finn Mosins and a few 30-06 rifles... so when I see a nice enfield come up at auction I have to remind myself that I don't have dies for .303 and don't really want to start loading yet another different round at this point.

Egads, no brainer. Keep the current 30-06 and buy a Garand. It truly is the golden age of CMP Garands. Get one, enjoy it, and never look back.

Totally worth the "hassle" (see web site = easy) and "wait" (15-30 days - come on).

I can guarantee that once all the CMP Garands are gone (4 years?) you will agree this is a non brainer decision. Make sure you order a Sercive Grade as it is well worth the money.

If you are going to collect military rifles, you need all of the popular calibers:
USA - 45-70, 30-40, 30-06, 7.62 Nato, 5.56 and .30 Carbine
Europe - 6.5X55, 7X57, .303, 7.62X54R, 8X57
Commie Countries - 5.45X39, 7.62X39, and 7.62X54R

Surely there are some I omitted but you need to stop this talk about selling guns because of caliber differences. Yes, some ammo is cheaper, get lots of that stuff and shoot the daylights out of it but get the others too. There is almost no limit, once you have one of everything, start looking for variations.

Don't forget, the Air Force issued a .22 Hornet survival rifle. You need one of those too.
