    7.62x54R ammo in Socal

Is 7.62x54R common in socal? I'm debating whether to get a Mosin or not because of the new BS gun law next year. I can't afford to take road trips to NV to get ammo and I'd rather not get price gouged at local stores... so it is commonly available here?

I have no problem shooting surplus as I clean my rifles religiously.

the new gun law that takes effect next year only applies to handgun ammo. 7.62x54r can still be ordered and received by you.

but if you want to get it here in SoKal, you'll have to get new production stuff at places like Big5. i don't know of any gun shops that sell combloc milsurp stuff. it is easy to get, though

      Phew! That's good to know.

Honestly I feel like I'm walking on eggshells with all of the intricate laws.

gun shows gun show gun shows..... Seriously you can pick up the combloc stuff in the spam cans but just about as cheap as you could online but without attrocious shipping. I rather enjoy going to the gun show and just looking around and usually if all else fails I end up with at least 1 spam can.

            Ammo

Ammo Brothers in Ontario also carries 7.62X54, both in small packagaes of 20 and in large tins of 440 rounds. You might call them first before driving up though. Last time I was there, they had just sold out of the tins, but had lots of the small pachages of 20 for $4 or something like that.

I think they wanted $99 for the tin. I paid $89 at the gun show for the same thing, so the prices are pretty comparable.

How much were parking and admission at the gun show?

Online ammo purchase is your friend. You can save a bunch if you buy 1 or 2 spam cans at a time. Sure, shipping is a Bi*ch, but in the long run, you can save a bunch of money.
I usually shoot up about 100 rounds each range trip, so 440 rounds is only 4 plus trips.
