Service grade Springfield Garands are back @ CMP

Well I know they had them the whole time but they must have got caught up on the orders. My order goes out in the morning for a SA SG and 200 rounds of ammo. This will be my first Garand and my first CMP order. I put a "sticky" in the envelope for USGI wood and/or low ME/TE and/or a WW2 receiver. Now the wait begins.

I'm pretty sure they just grab the first available service grade once your order gets to the sales/shipping dept

This. As far as requesting anything that requires a measurment, like muzzle or throat erosion, they do that when they seperate into catagories, so asking for the order fillers to do it is pointless.
On the other hand, requesting WW11 serials or USGI wood, they will put your order aside and if what you want comes up, they will grab it. Or so I am told.

Just received my 2 SG HRA's yesterday. Both had GI wood in nice condition, one with a SA bolt and the other with HRA. Both triggers are SA and both came with HRA Barrels. Both are slathered in Cosmo, so I have my work cut out for me over the next couple of days.

I'm very happy with both of them.

Yes, I know, this post is worthless without pics - which I will do when they are all cleaned up.
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

I figured it was worth the shot with the request. Seems the SGs as of late have been nice.

                  With that request...?

It'll probably be either a low SN w/ an at spec barrel, and USGI wood...

...or a 5.5 Million SN and up w/ ~ MW=1 and TE=2 barrel, and a new birch stock and like new park.

                  If you get both...?

                  You are truly blessed.

Requesting Low MW/TW is pointless as they are alreay graded into categories. You can ask for USGI wood or a WWII reciver but it does not mean you will get it.
They do not put your order to one side until your request shows up
If you have a simple request they will look at a few rifles on the stack and if one meets it they will send it.
They do not have the time or manpower to spend hours searching for requests

You seem to know a lot about CMP and Garands.
