    SKS help...

Anyone local (Lomita, South Bay) that can help me remove my G/L off my M59/66....? I want to replace it with something else... Mine has a god ugly black chunk of metal with holes in it... (its not the original looking type, if not I'd keep it on).....

There's NO pin thru it, and most of the spot weld is off....

Because even not attached to a rifle, the GL is still a "destructive device".

i think what tweak was saying, was to take the g/l off and just send the rifle w/ bare threads. Is it easier to weld a sleeve over the g/l than it is to take it off?? Mine was only on hand tight.

Problem you create when you do that, is that it's outside of its original military configuration, and thus no longer C&R exempt.

Once that applies, 922(r) exemptions disappear and it has the capacity to accept a flash hider, which makes it a forbidden weapon on a federal level UNLESS you mod it with enough domestic parts to meet 922(r) requirements.
