    RE:c , r or not

I bought a stevens 44 rifle from one of those gun brokers who wouldnt sell to CA.He said he'd sell it if i got a 003FFL and wait. I applied and receivecd the FFL and had the rifle shipped to me.Now for the problem, i don't think its c & r at all.The idiot never looked at the patent dates on the barrel. These rifles were made up to 1948 with the 1894 patent date, this one has the 1889 patent date, it means it was made between 1889 and 1894.So its an antique, not c & r, right. Should i put it in the bound book or not?

If manufacture dates of models, or serial number listings from manufacturer, clearly prove that a firearm was manufactured before 1899, then it is an antique. These do not go in your bound book.

If unsure, error on the safe side. Better to have an antique on your C&R book than to have a C&R gun that's not recorded.
