Blued Mosin Bolt

I was taking apart my guns today to make sure the internals were clean and I thought I would take a photo of the bolt from 1942 Finn capture M91/30 compared to a normal Mosin bolt. It is probably somewhat common but I figured some people might like to see it.

Blued mosin bolts are far from the norm, but all the ones I've seen have come from the Finns. It seems like the Finns blued them on an on again, off again basis.

Oddly enough, I've only ever seen them on Finn built or Finn captured 91/30's, maybe it has something to do with the model?

Question though, PnS: does yours have a stacked blade front sight or a post and globe front sight?

Total guess on my part, but maybe they realized that blued 91/30 bolts are a little less obvious then the bare metal ones.

It doesn't make any sense to me that they would only do it on one model though, and even then only on some, not all of them.

Was it on early ones? Maybe they didn't have time to blue them all? Lets go back in time and ask them?

Even the shiny bolt handles aren't -really- that obvious. Mine are all a fairly matte finish.

My repro sniper is SHINY! but maybe because its not an original bolt.

I have a super rare 91/30 with a half-blued bolt assembly.

I also have several tools that are half-blued of questionable monetary value due to a spilled bottle of cold blue while refinishing a rusted bolt action .410 shotgun.

Ask me how often I clean my work space while working with blueing agent.

First time I have seen Finn blued bolt assembly though.

P.S. The .410 shotgun looks great.
