Any opinions on what the release for sale of CMP M1 carbines will do to the overall M1 carbine market? Will increased availability cause prices to come down a bit and if so, what do you think is a fair resale price for a CMP that was bought for $495.00?

Well since CMP is sold out of the first round of Carbines, I don't see prices dropping dramatically.
Non imports will still probably command $700+ (even the FAT-stamped CMP ones). However, I see less of a market for import stamped ones and prices on those will probably flat line for awhile and might even drop some as they had been pushing over $500 lately.
Finally, I believe that original, non import marked, non upgraded carbines will continue to rise in price (and I think even faster now than before!). As by 2008, tens of thousands of new carbine owners will be added to the ranks of those who are seeking true original condition, WWII rifles. Demand was already insane before the CMP infusion. It should soon be off the charts in my opinion.sigpic "On bended knee is no way to be free." - Eddie Vedder, "Guaranteed"

CMP claimed that m1903 prices remained the same after they introduced thousands of them back in 2002. It will probably stay the same.Comment
