You know I was wondering the same thing.... However it doesnt say that they are deactivated and everything else they sell is live. Whats also cool is that these are pre 1899 receivers you dont even need a C&R!

I think they are still active. Where can you get 11mm black-powder ammo?

Yes. The first bolt actions were black powder only.

11x60R aka .43 Mauser. Looks like Midway and Graf's have the brass or you can make it from 348 Winchester. For some reason I thought it was rimfire but I guess not.

Old Western Scrounger has loaded ammo. $75 for 20 cartridges!

Sign a waiver? Replicated extractor and ejector?

Kinda get the feeling that these will break the first time you shoot it.

                    Good luck.

They are interesting guns. Has a tube magazine under the barrel. For such a long rifle, they seem to balance well. They are also interesting in that almost every part is serialed numbered.
I don't know about shooting one as I have yet to find any ammo. I just get it out when I watch the Last Samurai or a civil war movie. (I know it's not a civil war gun, but it's as close to one as I got )

They are beautiful guns. Ammo is really hard to find. I guess you won't be using this for serious target practice.

From what I have read, the action is strong enough for smokeless.

I noticed that the ad is very careful not to mention bore condition -
A decent original 71/84 is not much more expensive and probably more desireable than a one modified to look like a Murata --
348 win is not an easy conversion to 43 mauser, too short and rim must be modified. -
11mm brass was available from huntington --
Action is quite strong and smokeless equivalent loads are fine.
Fortunately I still have about 100 rounds including a few boxes of new dominion ammo.
                              my ha-penny
