D-Day June 6, 1944

Gentlemen,
Today is the 63rd year since D-Day June 6, 1944. It was also called by some "The Longest Day". I hold my hat over my heart on this day for all US and allied troops who fought on this day. You guys should take a minute for those living and dead who gave their all on that day so that we could be here today.
I would just like to THANK ALL OF THEM.

A relative went over at D+5 or so and wanted a peek over the hedges at who was shooting at them, got creased, spent the rest of the war in England. Still going strong in his 80s.

You can no longer walk out to the Ranger Dagger that sits on top of the German observation post due to the cliff eroding away.

I once talked with an ex-german soldier who was a friend of my father's-he was from one of the baltic states taken oven by the USSR in 1939, so when the germans came thru he joined the german army-fought on the russian front for three years and was lucky-got tranfered to the west for the Battle of the Bulge.Ended up in the RUHR pocket with 325,00 others, did not surrender and is listed as missing to this day i guess.Count not go home after the war because of Stalin have him shot.
