i am having trouble shooting my cz. the cheapest ammo to find seems to be polish surplus and i bought a box to try it out. they seem to have hard primers and my gun will not fire the round on the first pull of the trigger. i have to recock the pistol and pull the trigger again. it will fire the second time


do i need to change the hammer springs? or is the ammo bad?

It probably does have hard primers, but it's always a good idea to make sure your springs are OK and replacing them if they aren't.

I Have a similar problem with Yugo sometimes. I wish there was a stronger hammer spring but they don't exist that i know of. I don't know if another original hammer spring would change that (I guess would be a good idea to try since the original one might be worn). I have seen some tips about adding a shim on the hammer strut to increase hammer spring strength. I have yet to try it. I will eventually try it as i have a lot of Yugo Tokarev ammo. I will be trying some Romanian Tokarev ammo as well. It shot well last box i had of it some just came up recently on Southern Ohio gun. I different have some varieties of it even some Czech ammo. I have had split cases with polish as well but generally its worked ok with some light strikes.

New production Tokarev is not a problem since the primers are softer. 9mm Isn't a problem for the same reasons(i have a 9mm Barrel).
