As a 1950s production Garand there is a good chance it has its original barrel, which will give you a clue to the manufacturing date. Have your brother pull back and lock the operating handle and check the right side of the barrel for a date (month-year). It will probably be a 3-55 date if original.

        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

they recieved the paper work on the 18th, i sent it out the beginning of oct, im in iraq right now so it took about 2 weeks to ship it over there. it was shipped out last friday but because of the weekend it was delayed, it would have only been 5 days but yea, turned into 7, well 5 business days total haha he said it looks realllly nice, but my father left him the camera without SD card or usb so we have to wait til a little after 12pm when he gets out of work

They can always close the bolt by holding back the op rod handle with their right hand and then depress the follower with a pen or other object to release the op rod catch, letting the bolt close while the op rod handle is controlled by their right hand.

Mine is in the same serial # range as his: 582XXXX. And my barrel is stamped 3-55. Is there any way to tell if it is origional to the receiver?

Can't guarantee it but it is extremely likely that it is the original barrel.

is that the "special" grade? i'm thinking about ordering one too, but don't feel like going to a notary. i've fulfilled every other piece of the requirement though :P
