Now that I have received my renewed 03FFL do I need to get a new bound book?

Didn't think about it before, but the book I have has a space to put your FFL number and expiration date on the book. I filled that out when I got the book after obtaining my original license. Can I note the new expiration date and single digit change to the license number and continue using my original book or do I need to get a new book?

I was thinking I could close out the page I am working on, date it and note the old license expired that start anew on the following page.

I only bought 21 guns during the life of my original license and disposed of none. Seems like a waste of a book if I need to start a new one. Any thoughts or guidance appreciated.

did you renew the license (ie, you got your new one issued to you before the old one expired)? If so, you need to continue the bound book. Which, from your OP it sounds like it was a renewal, so just continue the bound book.



But if you let the old one expire and then filed for a new FFL, then you would dispose of your old book and start a new one.

You read my post correctly, I received my renewed license prior to the expiration of the old one, by almost two months prior. I could not find an answer to my question on the ATF site, no matter where I looked.

Now that I'll continue with the old book do I continue immediately after my last purchase, skip a line and note the new number then continue or start again on the following page? It would seem that since the license number changed, albeit slightly, there should be some notation of the new license number.

I didn't do anything special with my bound book other than to put a copy of the new FFL in the folder. I don't see a need to skip a line, page, or anything like that. Just continue to use it like nothing happened.

The digit in your license number that changed just corresponds to your new expiration date. ATF still considers you to have the same license number. No need to make any indication in your bound book.
