OK.. I have my Mo.4Mk1 Enfield.. I shot my first rounds through it today (rem 180gr Core-lock) it shoots way high at 200yds and left... I know I can drift the front sight but what about the availability of a taller front sight? The rear sight has a 300 and 600yd apertures?

I doubt 20 fps makes any real difference. I don't know of a specific front sight replacement blade for the SMLE, but I'd bet that in the back of the Numrich Arms catalog there is a dovetail with blade sight that can be fitted with a hand file. Should be under their misc sights section.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

A buddy of mine just called me.. he told me to order the milled micrometer rear sight GPS has for $22.50. That will cure the problem...'Just Don't Point, Squint, and Laugh! '

No, it won't. Not unless it's only 6"-10" high. It will shoot a little lower, but probably not near enough. And it's not the ammo. Mine did the same thing with the HXP even after I got the micrometer sight. It was better, but not enough. Mine was initially over the top of a SR1 target at 100 yards! The micrometer sight, when bottomed out put it about an inch down from the top of the paper.
As I mentioned in your other thread, you need to either raise the front blade, or find a taller front blade. Good luck on finding a taller one. They're rarer than a #3 bolt head.
A gentleman I know who is seriously into collecible firearms said the best thing to do is order a few front sight blades from Numrich. Take them and a 12 pack to your friendly neighborhood welder, and have him weld up the blade part higher. Install and file to what your rifle requires.
I got lucky. Someone (on this board IIRC) had a taller front blade posted on the WTS and I snapped it up.Last edited by Pthfndr; 05-31-2007, 6:42 PM.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

Clean off the base of the front sight blade. There should be a small number stamped on it. You need one with a bigger number.
Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you see one for sale somewhere, you'll know if it's taller than what you have.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

My original sight was marked .03 on one side of the blade with ROFB on the other. The new one is marked .075, with the Savage S on the other side. It's almost dead nuts on at 100 and 200 with the micrometer rear sight set at those elevations using HXP or my handloads.
Ajax22, maybe you can look at the ones you have to see what you got for him.
Here's a pic of the old blade. It looks a lot smoother in real life. I had to use a magnifying glass in front of the camera lens to get it to show up clearly.
The blades themselves are all the same height. It's the piece above the dove tail that has the number stamped in it that's thicker (taller).

Springfield sporters has front sights with different heights.
Alternatively you can build up the front sight with epoxy
or modify it like so:

ok, I have several different numbers, I'll try to make a list of them. let me know what the original number is so that I can disregard those that are shorter.

Ok.. my front blade has a FY on one side and only a big fat 0 (zero) on the other side.. no other markings... might this be their shortest blade?Last edited by NRAhighpowershooter; 06-01-2007, 2:36 PM.'Just Don't Point, Squint, and Laugh! '

I have an assortment, it seems like most are 0.15 or 0 I don't know if that'll fix your problem, but you're welcom to it if you'd like.
I think there is another one that jumped off when I was moving them around I'll see if I can find it and figure out what it is.Comment

Robert (HPS)
If you're going to be at Sac Valley for the High Power match on sunday the 10th I'll bring my .030 marked sight and you can give it a try if you'd like. Or I can mail it to you if you won't be there.
PM me to let me know.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match
