Many of the IBM receivers in this range are also stamped "AO" and were manufactured by Auto Ordinance who also made the Thompson sub-machinegun. How about yours? -M

First, thanks to all for the help.

This is a type 1 from what I have found. "if it matters"

          Reciever marked "U.S. CARBINE CAL.30 M1" and "I.B.M. CORP."Barrel marked "I.B.M. CORP" farther down "P"
Front site "SIB" Rear site "FOB" Mag release "EPB" Safety "EPB"
          Stock "J" in sling slot

          Forearm "RMC" underside

All I've found so far, not really up on M1's, into it for $600, it's in great shape, don't laugh to hard if I overpaid for it.

Front sight made by Simpro Mfg. Co. for IBM
Rear sight is also for IBM.
Magazine catch and safety made by Eaton-Pond Co. for IBM
Stock is a replacement made by Jewell Bros. Mfg. Co., unless it is actually marked JL-B.
If the handguard is "RMC" instead of "RCM" it is Rock-Ola.

If those IBM parts are genuine and not reproductions your carbine is worth more than $600.
            Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

If you have the narrow Type 1 barrel band without the bayonet lug and if your bolt, hammer, trigger, sear, and operating slide are IBM that carbine would really be worth restoring to "correct" configuration. You would need a stock marked BR-B, JL-B, LW-B, or SC-B with a recoil plate marked PR-B. IBM used some RMC handguards so yours is OK. I noticed your trigger housing is the stamped and brazed type used by IBM; it is probably marked BE-B.

                            OK, more parts to id

                            Bolt - "A"

                            Hammer - "WMB"

                            Trigger Housing - "BEB"

Sear - "SWB" guessing thats what I see under the spring and does'nt move with the trigger.

                            Op Slide - "D" and "7150?" ? = possible 3

Recoil Plate - Unmarked marks look like big circle over small one just left and above screw hole.

Barrel Band - No Bayonet lug, unmaked, only spot welds

I'll take more pics tomorrow, camera batteries died.
