Ok so Im IN love with 8mm, I want to start getting 8mm C&R weapons but only know of a few, can you knowledgeable modern gentleman help me compile a list of Cali legal 8mms? The 8mm C&Rs I know of are Mausers. the Hakim, G and K43's, G41, Hakim, MG-34, MG-42, M53 and the FN-49.

Thank you my close and dear comrades of Kommifornia

How about the Zastava M76 rifle?

It's not C&R, but neither would Cali-Legal versions of the belt feds you have listed, so I'll mention it anyway. You'd need to have a mag lock device installed first.

They are, I have one with a BB. Haven't shot it yet and I'm probably looking to sell it since it's just way too big and I don't shoot much anymore.

I didn't say it would be illegal in California. I said it wouldn't be C&R. The semi-auto M53 and the M76 reproductions can both be made Cali-legal, but neither is C&R. Your post said you were looking for C&R 8mm firearms. I only mentioned the M76 (not C&R) because you had already mentioned the M53 and MG42 (semi-auto reproductions not C&R).

I figured you were really just looking for military-style 8mm firearms and not necessarily C&R 8mm firearms.

How does the BB work with an MG42/M53 type design? Does it prevent the feed cover from opening up without a tool?

Wikipedia says "15,000+" were made, but the ones we can get are just parts kits assembled on a U.S. made receiver by Century. The Serbs do produce the M91 rifle in 7.62x54R, but it looks more like a PSL.

I personally love the Steyr M95 in 8X56R. Ammo is hard to find but it is very fun to shoot and kicks like a mule.

I had a Steyr M95, bought it at Big 5 about 2 years ago, but couldnt find ammo ANYWHERE, so I sold it to Cabela's for $100

i had 2 steyrs but the mil surplus gods were not with me and they no longer work. not worth replacing cause i have moved on to an arisaka. well there is always some of those weird post war mannlicher rifles, probably cost and arm and a leg though. still if theres a way to get a m76 please share the knowledge.

J&G Sales sells the Century builds, but you would need to find a middle-man FFL to install the mag lock and then ship it to your local FFL in California. Here's a Calgunner who had an even nicer one built up...
