    CMP bound Book Question

What has everyone put in their entries for rifles received from CMP?
CMP as name and address? What for FFL number?
I'm still trying to register at the cmp forum to ask there.

Just wondering to make sure I'm kosher on my M1 entry and my upcoming M1 Carbine order.

I just put the address of the CMP location in Anniston, AL where the order was sent to in my C&R Bound Book.

Does anyone have any pics to post of what a log book with a couple of entries looks like? Black out the specifics, just an example of the basics?

How about a blank pdf and xls in a zip?

It should be pretty self-explanatory what info is needed.
You can buy books (online places) or use your own in a binder.
I use the spreadsheet page in the zip

I found these online, cruffler maybe?

I've done the same so far, just wondering if anyone had the FFL # or did anything else.

For acquisitions, the law says you can either record their name & address or their name & FFL number. Since the CMP doesn't have an FFL you would just go with their name and address for your bound book.

Here's a make believe bound book entry for a CMP rifle. I spelled their street name wrong, but you get the idea...

I was under the impression you had to have a "bound book", no binders ...

                Yup, per the ATF FAQ..

(E1) What is a "bound book?" [Back]

A "bound book" is a permanently bound book or an orderly arrangement of loose-leaf pages which must be maintained on the business premises. The format must follow that prescribed in the regulations, and the pages must be numbered consecutively.

                  OK, adding on now.
What would you put as manufacturer?
                  For my Garand I put
                  US Government Springfield Armory
I suppose you could put it a few different ways and all would be fine.
For my Inland Carbine, I'm thinking of
US Government Inland Gear Div. GM Rationale Contract made for USG by Inland Gear Division of GM
or should I just use Inland as that is all that is marked on it?
Leave off US Government as they didn't actually manufacture it? (Whereas the USG DID actually make the Garand)
Gives lots of choices - all correct on at least some level
US Government Inland Gear Div. GM
                  US Government Inland
                  Inland Gear Div. GM
                  Inland

                  Any votes on what's best?

                        Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

                        We have a winner!

You are not expected to put down anything in the "Description" section of the bound book that you can't find by just looking at the firearm. There is no extra-credit for adding extra information. The ATF auditor is not likely to be impressed with your knowledge of US firearms history and is more likely to be confused by extra information cluttering up your bound book.

Why are you entering CMP rifles in your C&R book? Do you use your C&R for the CMP process?

You don't record CMP guns in your bound book because you "used" your C&R FFL to get them. You record CMP guns in you bound book because you are licensed. Federal law requires C&R FFL's to record all C&R guns that they acquire or dispose of while they are licensed.

The simple answer is because they are C&R's.
2A is of course correct, all C&R eligible weapons must be entered in the book when acquired or disposed of by the licensee; no matter how obtained.

Just to add to the confusion - I DID use my C&R with the CMP as it qualifies me for the marksmanship requirement.

2A - You sure I can't impress them, even give the address of the plant where it was made in Dayton? (just found that tidbit and the sat photo today)

Actually, on further reflection; going with the markings on the weapon is probably the best way.

(Might lead to some confusion say about 2025 or so when Springield Armory can mean two different manufacturers)
