    Another C&R n00b question

How do C&R pistol purchases work with the allowed-handgun list in CA? If a handgun qualifies as a C&R, does it still have to be on the list to be sent to a CA FFL?

C&R handguns are exempt from the California "safe" handgun roster. They can be shipped to your local California licensed dealer for transfer to you.

A few years ago, a collector could have them shipped directly to him.
It has been about 4 years now. With a COE, once it is at your dealer, you may bring it home without the 10 day wait. Long c&r guns as well.

It's been a lot longer than 4 years. I got my first C&R FFL in 1999 and they had to go to a dealer then.

With your C&R why not have it shipped directly to you?

Pistols must go through an 01FFL.

                Fixed.
                Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Wouldn't have mattered. The COE has absolutely zero benefit for having guns shipped to you from out of state. The COE only comes into play when you are interacting with California licensed dealers.

I think direct handgun shipments to California C&R FFLs was supposed to stop in 1991 when 12072(d) went into effect. California considers firearms shipments into California to be transfers taking place within California.
