Chinese sks

Since their ages can't be verified because of lack of records, there is no way to determine if a particular Chinese SKS is over 50 years old. So the only other way for them to become C&R is for BATFE to make that determination and add them to the C&R list because they consider Chinese SKSs to be rare or collectable. So far BATFE has not made that determination.
Chinese SKS rifles were banned from import in 1994. That means that they will become C&R for sure some time in the year 2044 because they will all have to be at least 50 years old by then.

The Chinese SKS's I've seen have dates stamped on 'em.
Don't own one, I've got two Russians purchased as C&R's about fifteen years ago.
Saw three Chinese and a Russian at Martin B. Redding a few weeks ago.Comment

i'm not real up on dating chinese SKS's or other particulars with them but the real milsurp ones, the ones that were made for the Chinese army are date stamped.
problem is many norinco's were made to be sold in the US and elsewhere and they are difficult to date accurately.
the last problem is the first Chicom SKS's were made in 1956, so only these that were made between then and 1960 would possibly be 50+ C & R grandfathered in status. the vast majority of Chinese SKS's just like the Yugo's are too new to be 50+ years old.
the Yugo's all have gained federal C & R status because the BATFE added them to the list some years ago but they are still not eligible for cash and carry C & R PPT in CA because they do not have solid dating stamps on them and although one can figure out what year a yugo was made within a few years these days. the government will not recognize it because the records were destroyed in a bombing at the factory they were made.
if you want to find out more about what exactly the norinco your looking at or have is you can find out much more information here

a buddy just picked up a Norinco in MI for $150, dated early 80's
I saw a few thousand Russians for $199 in Vancouver, BC in May ... cash and carry if you've got the Canadian license, but not importable I believe.Comment
