    My Mosin's Sticky Extraction...

Test fired my new (to me) Mosin the other day with some steel-cased Russian ammo, along with other ammo. First few steel rounds, no problems. Then, it got progressively harder to open the bolt and extract the case. I think it was the hot barrel, since my brass caartriges did not have the same problems, and when I let the barrel cool off, out came the cases much easier.

Am I right, or could there be another issue afoot here?

How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

It sounds to me like you didn't get all the cosmoline out of the chamber. Use a flashlight to inspect. This is what i did to mine after i poured two large pots of boiling water down the barrel.

nad24LA is right, with the Mosin's they use cosmoline to preserve almost every aspect of the gun. You'll need to bake some parts if they are not working correctly (i.e. the magazine well, where the spring is attached) and clean it off with some elbow grease. I was fortunate enough that i took my gun to the desert, let it sit there while we were camping and wiped all the cosmoline goup off.

        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Thanks. I'll scrub out the chamber. BTW, Milsurp Collector's pics aren't showing. What did you post?

Two YouTube videos that show how to fix the sticky bolt syndrome. They look fine to me, here are the links if your browser isn't showing the embedded videos:

The videos are coming out fine, BTW...

Oh, and someone should "sticky" this sticky issue because it comes up so often. Yes, lame pun intended.
