Mosin m38 video

Went to Angeles Shooting Range to fire a M38 and made this video.

Was not sure what ammo was OK to shoot so I used the Winchester softpoints.

Make sure you save that Winchester brass so you can reload it some day. The Yugo surplus ammo is a bit more expensive but its steel free so it wont attract a magnet. New production Wolf wont either and its not corrosive....

Yugo surplus can still be had for $.26 cents a round online if you know where to look. Cheapest range safe for mosins without having to reload. Cool video! I love shooting my M38, and am thinking of scout scoping it for a brush gun. But for shooting steel at Angeles with a mosin, You cant beat an M39!

+1 for Yugo surplus. That's what I currently use. The stuff has headstamps for 1976 and 1989.

Thanks for the tip. Was my first time shooting a Mosin and it was great. Brush gun does sound nice. Seen a scout scope mount at the Costa mesa gun show. Looked great.

Do yourself a favor and use this for a scout mount (scroll down for the M38/M44)

This way you have no headaches or lost zero on your mosin. You can use pretty much any pistol scope, But NC star make cheap ones that hold up to 54R recoil very well

Last time i shot 180gr softpoints at steel targets with my mosin i knocked over the 100 yard target infront of my lane.

Great Observation! What I was going for was a sling set up so I can go from a low ready to fire position quickly. For me the stock sling was to tight. What I did was just an experiment. Paracord for long term use may not be durable. I'm sure no outdoor range will let me shoot that way but it would be for hunting/defense scenario. This is just something I'm trying. Works for me right now but do not know how it would last long term.






If any one else shoots like this and they have a sling set up that works please let me know what you use. Always great info on cal guns.
