    Pre 64 Win M70 .308 Help

A guy inherited his dads guns, needs values. He sent me some pics, I am trying to help him. Does this finish look original? The gun dates to 54, looks glossy to me. ALso looks like stock cut and pad added. He has not told me what scope is on it yet. How much should he ask for this thing from what we can see? Apparently a featherweight.

Looked on gbroker, gnsamerica, all p64 m70 are $1000 or more, but appear to be in much better shape too

          Would $600-$700+/- be realistic?

          Anyone?

          Anyone at all?

On Gunbroker, what they are listed for, and what they sell for are usually two different things. Kind of like a house on the market for a long time. It hasn't sold because it is overpriced.
The scope and rings look like cheapies. Also, the action has been drilled and tapped for a side mount.
I am not an appraiser, but I would think 6-700 is tops. It is basically a deer hunting rifle and bore condition would affect value as well. The metal finish looks original and worn, and the wood appears to have had some finish added at some time. What caliber? Looks like 308 in the picture. Some chamberings are more rare and desirabe than others.
Not a bad gun at all, just not worth a "collector" premium.

Pre 64's are collectable. That said, condition is everything. Condition is based on factory original , as it came from the factory with no alterations.
Then comes rarity within the pre 64 group.

Put it up for sale with or obo...and see what offers come in
