    Im aware of that. I dont always choose to use it. Such as now for instance. Thanks for the info however.

          This one is a pound and a half lighter than an m38. It was made from parts: Hungarian receiver, Ishevsk barrel, mix master other parts. The stock was $5 from American Gun Stocks after their fire. The stock, as you can see, is pretty singed, requiring extensive repair along the barrel channel and receiver inlet areas.

          The barrel is free floated--worked out great, as most of the barrel channel was burned away. I finished it with pine tar followed by thinned BLO. It is for hunting and schlepping around in the woods with. The wood was so burned I thought it was maple, so I repaired it with maple. After finishing with the pine tar, I suspect the wood is cherry. It's changed quite a bit from the fire. So now it's my Frankenmosin.







          So, what do you do when you have a bunch of parts?
