COE RENEWAL: a VERY unique 'dilemma'

Check this out: last year, I sent my $20 in for my updated COE, & the DOJ f**ked up big time: they sent me one with the date "effective: November XX, 2010 - expiration: November xx, 2011." I called the BOF to let them know that they screwed the pooch, and they sent me out a new one with the correct "2009-2010" date on it. Here's the funny thing: The time has come again for my renewal, but I still have the "2010-2011" certificate in my possession! Technically, I already have a free COE that was printed up last year, that is now good for another whole year!!! What do you hombre's think? Should I go ahead and be a boy scout and send in my app/$20 for a "NEW new" one? Or, should I take advantage of the DOJ's f**k-up and go ahead with the one I have & save the $20? If I did this, I wonder if I would still get my renewal letter next year? Or would that effectively look like I have "dropped out?" Your thoughts, please:

If it were me, I'd be a Boy Scout throw another app/$20 at 'em.

If anything, just for piece of mind...never can tell if, during an audit, your name is picked and a 2010 application isn't on file.

Likely? Not really. But the reapplication is the honest thing to do.

Play it safe and get the renewal. Just because your paper copy shows it as valid doesn't mean it is, it's their records that count. The problems that could arise just aren't worth it. Just think of the $20 as future headache prevention insurance.
