M1 Garand still spitting out clips

    Ok,
So my CMP M1 Garand would spit out the clip every few clips. I took the advice of the fellow M1 owners, and I replaced the clip latch, the clip latch spring, and the bullet guide.
I took it out to the range today, and it actually got worst - but at least it is very consistent! I load a clip, first two rounds shoot fine, but after that the clip is ejected. I tried loading the partial clip to keep on shooting, but in most cases it would keep on spitting it out. When the clip ejects comes out half way. Some of the rounds pop out, but some remain stuck with the clip.
What can the wise suggest as far as repairing my Garand short of taking it to a gun smith?
    Suggestions are welcome!

one thing to look for.. there is a small rounded cut out on the left side of the stock for the arm of the clip latch that holds the clip in to clear.. sometimes that cut out is not giving the clip latch arm enough clearance and the clip latch doesn't lock in the en-bloc as tight as it should.. also the bullet guide lug might be too high.. .179" to .185" is spec,.. but sometimes a traller lug is needed to get the timing correct..

      Fulton Armory rebuilds?

Does anyone have first hand experience with Fulton Armory's work? They offer M1 rebuilds. Is their work worth the money?

Well, I just introduced myself to the "M1 thumb club", only that instead of my thumb, I managed to slam my middle finger! That is the result of an hour of working the action (stock removed) in order to understand the mechanism and hopefully what causes my rifle to spit up the clips prematurely.
Where do I get my certificate?

I looked up your problem in Jerry Kuhnhausen's book. He list four causes for early clip release:
-Bent follower rod (cycles operating rod catch and clip latch early)
-Follower rod forks excessively worn (cycles operating rod catch and clip latch early)
-Clip latch spring weak or short (clip latch slips or bounces out of engagement)
-Operating rod catch depressor arm altered or damaged (cycles clip latch early)

Tom Luhmann is in Clovis. It's a one day trip via UPS ground and he does good work for reasonable prices. Fulton will cost you an arm and a leg. You should be able to pull his phone number with the search function.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered a bunch of parts from Numrich and a clip of inert 30.06 rounds off Ebay. So next week sometime I will be able to go into a detailed root cause analysis in a safe manner.
              Will post my results.
