So I bought an Oiler and sling for my M1 Carbine. I follow instruction guides and videos and I can't get it. When I'm holding the oiler in the stock, I can't even put one side of the sling threw. Its way to tight, is it the Italian Fat 70 stock or whats going on? I'm getting so frustrated. I was thinking about sanding some of the wood off to make it bigger but I don't know.

This is typical. Try putting the end of the sling (metal) in at an angle. It will still be tight but it will go in. I thought the same thing when I installed the sling on mine. This is normal.Comment

The metal ends on repro slings are often a little too thick to pass easily. Flatten the metal end in a vise or with a hammer. You should never alter the stock.
Also, pass it through near the top of the slot, around the oiler, then back through near the bottom of the slot.Revolvers are not pistols

Put the oiler in the stock. Pass the sling through from the left side of the stock at the top of the slot, around the oiler with a big loop, then back through from the right side of the stock at the bottom of the slot, keeping the big loop. Once you have it through you can tighten the loop.Revolvers are not pistols

Well I got it. But I had to push it threw with a screw driver and then pull it threw with pliers. That's how tight it was. But I got it. So it's all good now but I doubt it's ever coming off.Last edited by NaughtyMonkey; 09-01-2010, 12:18 PM.-General George S. Patton Jr.
