    C&R renewal

Mine expires in December...will a renewal form be sent to me, or do I need to print one?

BTW, just renewed my COE. Took about a month, total.

They should send you a renewal packet a few months before your license expires. If you get down to the last two months and haven't received it yet, give the Licensing Center a call.

+1 I just renewed mine, they sent me a re-newal packet about 60 days before mine expired.

Mine was to expire on Aug 1st. I didnt send in my renew until July 26 and my new FFL came in the mail a week ago. I thought it was going to expire and I would have to send in a new application.

no, you don't have to give up your collection. You can, however, get rid of your bound book. You aren't requried to send it in to BATF like all other FFLtypes do, and you don't need to keep it either.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

No, you don't have to give up any guns. It's perfectly legal to own C&R firearms in California without having a C&R FFL. Probably 99% of the C&R firearms in California are owned by people who don't have C&R FFLs. Big 5 sells hundreds of them every day to non-FFLs.

Oh...I thought you had to keep your bound book for 20 years if you let your C&R FFL 03 expire

nope, if you are a current licensee, you must keep your last 20-years of records, but if you let it expire, you are no longer a licensee, and there is no requirement that an ex-licensee maintain any records. Business FFLs that let their FFL expire are required to send in the business records to ATF, but an 03FFL can't be operateds as a business, so there are no business records that could be sent in.

welcome. And because of that peculularity regarding 03FFLs and their records, some 03FFLs will purposely let their license expire, wait a month or two, and then apply for a new license. By doing so, they can start over with a new bound book, and any errors in the old book go bye-bye.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering after you told me that about not having to keep my bound book...I have about 10 years worth of stuff in my book now...maybe time to start over nest time it expires, lol...but I just re-newed this month.
