Various parking lots, in the shade. Have him bring a copy of his DL and a signed statement that he isn't prohibited from owning firearms.

The only place you shouldn't do it is where people will freak out, and in a school zone.

Parking lot of a range or gun store would by my choice.

As a somewhat related question, as a 03 FFL, when selling a C&R out of state to a non-licensed person, what I put in my bound book is the info for his FFL, right?

Would the actual buyer be in there anywhere?

I was thinking of something like this:

            Buyer name
            care of:
            FFL info

How do you guys do it?

            Thanks,

When selling to someone out of state who is unlicensed, you put their 01 FFLs info in the Buyer section of your bound book transaction record. The rifle is legally being transferred to the FFL. They then transfer it to your buyer. There's no reason to put the buyer's info in your bound book. So you want the FFL's license number & expiration date, address, phone. That's it.

Usually in the FFL parking lot. I did have a member come to my residence once, but only because he had several itrader references.

I've bought & sold several milsurps since I came to Calguns- and the locations greatly varied.

Once was at a Big 5 parking lot, one was in the parking lot near a park, once was at my residence, etc... Anywhere that has low traffic.

Above all (if you are in a place other than an FFL [i.e. gunstore] parking lot)- be nonchalant and bring a rifle box & case. Inspect the rifle in the trunk & when you buy it, put it into said container while in the trunk. Easy as pie.
