Has anyone ordered one? I just placed my order yesterday and was wondering what the condition is. I didn't want a new one since my Garand looks like a WWII vet. Thanks for the input.

You can get a lot of accessories for your Garand or Carbine from CMP, just dig through the e-store. I'll let you know how it looks like when I get it. The used one costs $45 and the new un-issued costs $60.When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,

Got mine last week. 1 unissued and 1 issued. Do yourself a favor and get an issued. I'm returning my issued and exchanging it for another or an unissued one if they will let me upgrade. A lot of guy's are getting nice issued ones, but with CMP everything is a gamble. Pay the extra $15 and get an unissued. Trust me, even my unissued had green crap all over the brass. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.Comment

How bad was the one you got? I was thinking of getting a cheaper than dirt replica, but never heard any reviews about those.Comment

Just out of curiosity, do you need to meet the same requirements to purchase the bayonet/ammo as you do to purchase a firearm?Comment

I no you do for the ammo, so most likely for the bayonet too? Have you ordered from them before?-General George S. Patton Jr.

I too ordered a used and an unissued. One arrived covered in grease. One didn't. Otherwise both look about the same -- pretty good. Thus far I have left the greasy one alone."The most hated initials in America today ... TSA."

I have only ordered rifles from them but no ammo. I met the CMP requirements by having a GA CCW and being a member of the Garand Collector's Association. I have since let my membership expire but may have to renew so I can pick up a Carbine before they are gone. One of these days I plan to visit CMP South in Aniston, AL. Heck, it was only a few hours from my house in GA. Hopefully when I move back to GA later this year I will have to stop by on my drive back.Comment

I think the CMP requirements are good for 3 years. So you should be good but you can email them just to be safe. I ordered some .30-06 from them a week ago and it still says processing in there E-store, they are a tad bit slow.-General George S. Patton Jr.

For ammo and surplus parts (bayonets, oilers, tools, etc) All you need is to fax/Ship CMP a copy of your birth certificate, CA ID/CDL, and club affiliation. This will allow you to order ammo or bayonets. This is all I had on file at first. Then when you are ready for a rifle, just send in the rest of the paperwork (notorized) and your good to go.Comment
