    Mosin N question

I recently acquired this rifle. I just want to know why it has a slash (/43) next to the year 1932.

    Thanks in advance

It's typically referred to as an "MO" marked rifle. The M O stands for Ministry of Defense and the 43 means it was transferred to them in 1943. It's a marking that some collectors are seeking, so it may be worth a bit more than a standard 91/30. Some of them are marked with 3 different years, so you will see mention of "triple MO marked" too.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

        Thanks Brian!

I have been searching for info regarding this. I had an idea it was part of a year, but not the MO part. Someone at Turners prob knew about this, it was hidden in the back of the shelf. The stock caught my attention.

        Thanks again.

Here's the page I was trying to find earlier, it's got plenty of great info and an explanation of what the MO was and a database with a lot of data. Looks like there is only one other rifle in the data with a second date of '43.
