    C&R question

    What make a gun a C&R? I have a shotgun that I am trying to determine if it's a C&R.

    If it's over 50 years old, that is one way. Other guns are C&R based on significance as collectibles.
    Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

      C&R firearms come in two categories: Curio, some feature that makes it a curiosity, (i.e. cz 82 polygonal barrel) or Relic, a firearm that is greater than 50 years old.

      California, with some exceptions, uses the BATFE list of C&R guns.

          CA defers to the Federal definitions of what a Curio or Relic is:
          To be recognized as C&R items, 478.11 specifies that firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

          1. Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas of such firearms;
          2. Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; and
          3. Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.

          Or you could find the production dates of the serial on the gun if there's not date on it as well

              would a 1942 91/30 still be a C&R if it was bought at big five. Meaning could it be cash and carry if I wanted to sell it?
